photo5
This is the first time I've ever seen it in stock at B&H Photo. And combined with rebates on certain Nikon lenses this can be a pretty good deal if you've been waiting to buy the D7000. I'm sticking with my trusty old out of date inferior D300 for now, but if I were still shooting with my D80 I'd surely consider the D7000!

elliot1
The D7000 body has been readily available through Amazon from different major vendors for several weeks. Ritz also shows them in stock.
ShunCheung
Supply for the D7000 has never been that serious an issue. Initially one might have to wait a couple of weeks, but as long as you are willing to look around, you can find one fairly quickly. The main problem is that a lot of people order from the few large mail-order stores such as Amazon, B&H, Adorama, etc. and the wait is typically much longer with them.

In my case I had to wait a couple of weeks because my local store's first order from Nikon was stolen (the store assured me that was a true story); as soon as the 2nd shipment came in, I got mine.

Some of you may recall that Dave Lee once pre-ordered a D7000 last September before it was released: http://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00XKaK
Unfortunately that did not materialize as he cancelled the order.
dan_brown4
A lot of people are buying the kit from the bigbox retailers, and then selling the kit lens. Hence, the flood of kit lens sales out there right now.
dan_brown4
In stock now with $400 instant rebate on 14-24 or 70-200 Nikkors.

Tempting, but I just don't want a puny DSLR with a squinty finder.
alan_bessler
Hi Dan, Why do you think it's puny and squinty? just curious. thanks
dan_brown4
It's physically smaller (I have big hands) and it has the D90/D300 type prism/eyepiece, which isn't as comfortable as the D3/D700 eyepieces (I wear glasses). Even though the D7000 is chocked full of Nikon technology and image goodness, the "prosumer" industrial design leaves me wanting.
alan_bessler
I have been thinking of getting one this year,I'll have to check one out at a store and see what i think.i too wear glasses, but I don't have any proplems using my D3100 which is a small camera. Thanks.
elliot1
"squinty finder" I had reservations about getting a new DX body just for this reason. I find the D7000's finder large and bright, and is certainly better than I had expected, and much improved over the older DX bodies I have owned previously. Don't knock it until you have tried it!
dan_brown4
Fair enough. I will try to manually focus a fast lens on one when i get the chance.
ShunCheung
I too wear glasses and I have no problems with the D90, D200, D300, D7000, D700, D2X and any D3 viewfinder. Those on the D3100, D3000, D5000, D40 and D60 are a bit difficult to use but acceptable to me. The worst are the D50 and D70.

elliot1
BH also has another great offer if you happen to order the D7000 (or some other DSLR body from them) - an Epson R1900 printer which they sell for $469 and comes with a $400 rebate from Epson. Such a deal!
