How far in advance do you book your wedding?

<p>Someone emailed me today about doing a wedding summer of 2012 and I was just curious as to how far in advance you all book your events. I am not a pro, just an amateur and i've been doing weddings for about 4-5 years, so I wouldn't consider myself extremely green either. Thanks!</p>

<p>In late October of 2010, I booked a wedding for September 22, 2012. Also in 2010, I booked weddings 2, 3, and 5 WEEKS in advance. It's all over the map, and varies from year to year, but 9 months in advance is pretty typical for me.</p>

<p>About 1+ years is normal. Early is 18 months or earlier, and 6 months is late. That's my part of the world at least.</p>

<p>For my own sanity I wouldn't book a wedding more than 12 months in advance. Too many things can change in two years.</p>

<p>I try not to go more than 18 months out., Too many things can chage. As far as short notice, I've gotten calls the day of the wedding,.....If they are local and I'm free, we talk.</p>

<p>I always tell my clients to book their photographer at least 6 months in advance. Look at it this way, the longer you wait, the fewer *GOOD* photographers will remain. Most of the best photographers are booked up between 6 months to 1 year in advance.</p>

<p>I prefer to book weddings 12 months or less out. Longer and a lot of things can change (including what I charge) or a couple may decide to change their date. Of course i will consider booking 12 months or longer out, it depends on the situation.</p>
