Tom Wiggins Photography
At Xmas I used a Vivitar DF-383 TTL flash extensively for the first time. Most photos were shot with the head set a 45 degrees and using the white card to bounce the light toward the subject. Most of the pictures were under exposed by 1/2 to 1 1/2 stops Thankfully, I shot everything in RAW and was able to correct everyone. I was wondering if any one knows of a good website/book where I can get some basic instruction on the use of a TTL Flash in the bounce mode. All my prior photos have been in ambient light or using the in camera flash. Thank you for your suggestions. Tom

Mattman944
An example with technical details would help. How far away were you? Bounce is much less efficient. Did you try a larger aperture or higher ISO?

frank_skomial
Although the flash has a lot of power, but the Guide Number is rated for light beam coverage angle of 85 mm lens, and therefore may not have the power needed for 100 ISO, ... you do not tell what aperture was used?

This perhaps is a new modern flash, and should have an insufficient light blink signal or a beep ?
Try to read and pay attention what the flash will possibly tell you?
