Hi Everyone,

I am going to move to Detroit, MI from Phoenix AZ in January. I am looking for photo stores that sells used equipments and specializes in large format photo stuff. I had an excellent store like that in Phoenix: http://www.photomark.com/large_format.html
Also, I would need a reliable photo lab for my sheet films, like I had Colormark and Tempe Cameras in Phoenix. Most importantly, I need large format buddies. Any suggestions?
I am sad to leave Phoenix, but I am keeping my hopes high. Please help!!

Your only choice appears to be Titan Photo Labs in Troy (suburb of Detroit) titanphotolab.com. They do a first rate job.
Spectrum Photo on 12 MIle Rd. in Berkley has stopped processing film, but still prints from large format film. The owner there traditionally used large format camreas in his professional work.
I am not aware of any local store that carries much in the way of large format equipment new or used. You may want to check out Camera Mart in Pontiac on Telegraoh Road and Huron Camera in Dexter (not far from Ann Arbor) which always has a large slection of used equipment, but I do not recall seeing that much in the way of large format. Woodward Camera in Birmingham on Woodward Ave. still processes 35mm film, but its used department is small and mostly 35mm. I order my 4x5 film from the usual suspects: B&H, Adorama or Freestyle.

Your best bet in the Detroit area for chemicals is Camera Mart or Huron Camera (about 50 miles away) in Dexter. Woodward camera carries
Tmax developer and D76. Not absolutely sure, but I don't think either of these places carries 4x5 film any more. 5x7, 8x10? FORGET IT.
That's about it, last time I was there. I would actually order from Freestyle Photographic in Cali. Other, closer options include
Central Camera in Chicago and, of course, Calumet.
None of the few local stores carries large format equipment consistently. Woodward Camera takes in film equipment, but I would not count on finding anything bigger than
6x6 there, and even that is hit or miss.
It is extremely difficult to find large format equipment and supplies in and around Detroit. Last time I called a lab about processing 4x5 slide film, the
person on the phone did not even know what I was talking about.
