rowena
Hi Guys
I am just about to buy a second hand 5D body. I currently use a 5DMkII.
My question is does the Quick Control Toggle/Button (the tiny little button above the larger dial) on the back of camera work in the same way as the 5D MkII?
Can you access the menu screen from it by pressing it once?
I looked a 5D body today and the button did nothing but move an image around when in play/display mode. You could not scroll down on any menu items in the list etc - was this body faulty I am wondering.. Or is that normal?

Many thanks
Rowena
PuppyDigs
The QCS debuted on the Rebel series and wasn't incorporated into other series until the 40D, and that implementation was extremely awkward (different button pushed to access each function on QCS). The 50D got the the first really good implementation of the QCS and the 5DII followed soon after. The 7D QCS s basically the same as the 5DII but with a dedicated and labeled button. Unfortunately the the elderly 5D has the old style interface of the 10D and 20D--one massive menu--and lacks a QCS. The QCS was only a twinkle in the eye of an engineer back in 2004...
Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. PuppyDigs
The 5D interface is stone age compared to modern cameras. The LCD is terrible--dim, greenish 'n tiny. However the IQ and VF are still among the best.
Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see. - Robert Hunter
