BelaMolnar Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010
For all the experts. Q; It is possible to convert a Voigtlander 35/1.2 Nokton Aspherical RF lens to a Nikon mount? I can imagine, physically possible but the aperture coupling my impossible. Like an AI-S lens. Thank you.

Dieter Schaefer Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010
Do you want to mount it onto a Nikon rangefinder? There has been a 35/1.2 prototype at one time - for details see here: http://www.cameraquest.com/nrfVClens.htm.
Forget mounting it onto a Nikon SLR - the flange-to-film distance is more than 20mm larger for the Nikon DSLR than for a Leica/Bessa rangefinder camera; this additional extension will not allow to focus the lens to infinity (or with that much extension, to anything outside a few feet).

jean_yves_mead Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 I suppose it would be possible, with enough money to throw at the problem, to create an F-mount version with infinity focus, but either you'd need extra glass to correct for the change in registration distance - most likely ruining the image quality of the resulting monstrosity - or you'd need a camera with mirror lock- up to experience the questionable pleasures of scale focussing at f/1.2.
BelaMolnar Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010
Thank you for the link Diete. I realized, the design of the lens is for RF cameras, where the back element so close to the film plate and so, technically impossible to get to an SLR camera. Having a 50/1.2 Nikkor, I know how beautiful to work with it. This lens is as good stopped down two clicks, as a Noct-Nikkor full open. Stopped down to 2.8, not producing sagital-coma distortion(point of light like a bird). A 35/1.2 would be even more useful. Unfortunately, Nikon don't have such a lens.
Jean-Yves. Thank you for your input too.
