ptkeam
Hello Photo.net community,
I have two D70's that I bought new, use a lot and still love. To day I encountered something I've not seen before. While out shooting and pausing to review using camera's playback, I had a couple of shots that displayed the following message instead of the picture preview:
"No image data in file".
This happened, maybe, three times out of 50 or so pictures I took. I'm thinking that maybe that the shutter just malfunctioned -- ie. didn't open & close at all -- and so nothing was recorded on the sensor.
Any input??? Thanks
ShunCheung
I would suggest:

Change to a different EN-EL3 battery.

Mark down that CF card, which could be defective. Test your camera with a different CF card.

If the problem still occurs, perhaps your D70 is having problems. Maybe it is time to upgrade?
scott_ditzel1
I've had that happen with my D70s & it was a corrupted card (Lexar). I called Lexar & they had me format the card in my computer. It hasn't happened again to the card in the last year (this was about a year ago)...Then again, I use my larger capacity Sandisk cards more often nowadays.
raczoliver
Same thing happened to me on a D80 and SD card. Formatted the card in the computer and hasn't reoccurred since.
