MB-D80 Nikon V others

<p>Has anyone had experience with the other manufactures of the vertical grips? There seems to be several with different features and prices.<br>

Since they use two batteries, I assume they should be the same (both from Nikon, or non Nikon) although I have not had any luck with knock off batteries.</p>

<p>Hi Jim, as a fellow D80 owner I have often considered this as well. There seem to be lots of tempting products and pricing on the auction site. I talked to the owner of a camera shop that I consider a friend and he sells both "third party" and OEM Nikon. He mentioned that the Nikon grip is far superior in quality than the "cheapy" and he has used both. The "Targus" brand stuff I have seen seems to be decent. Our local Wal Mart actually sells that brand for the D40 and Canon Rebel as well. Casual looking at them they seem to be pretty decent. If you choose to go that route I would recommend that you get it from Adorama or B/H. At least there you have a chance to return it with minimal hassle if it doesn't meet your standards. I have not pulled the trigger on this purchase yet so let me know what you find out!<br>

<p>What about Adorama's "Flashpoint" (or whatever) version. Anybody tried it?</p>

<p>The Adorama comes with the batteries, just not sure if they are any good. My D50 I have been using the same battery since I bought the camera, the aftermarket one I have only lasts about 20 minutes.</p>

<p>Any experience with their batteries?</p>

<p>There'a been previous posts talking about this and the general consensus was that the Zeikos is a very good alternative, built just as well as the Nikon.</p>

I have the Zeikos on my D90 and absolutely love it. I used 2 original batteries from Nikon as I believe they are better. (?) I got mine on Amazon, and the extra battery from Adorama. Like I said works like a charm.<br>

<p>I have the Meike (sp?) version and it works like a charm -- I keep it on my D90 full time. I stick with Nikon batteries as I have had a couple of duds from third parties.</p>

<p>The Flashpoint grip is I belive a Meike grip sold under their name see link <a href="http://www.adorama.com/INKMBD80A.html">http://www.adorama.com/INKMBD80A.html</a> I had their grip for the D40 and it worked like a charm. Since upgradeing to the D90 I have not replaced it yet but I intend to.</p>
