._.
Ohhhh dear, I'm out cycling in east tibet at the moment and my 6, perhaps in response to the dirt roads, has locked up on me. The lens no longer locks into place after being retracted, rendering it useless. The lens is also stuck; the little silver button is loose and doesn't seem to come into contact with anything, so I can't take it off. When looking through the rangefinder the 50mm markings remain there even when the lens is pulled out to it's fullest. If anyone has any ideas on anything I might be able to do it would be much appreciated. I got the camera for really cheap a few years ago, had it overhauled a few months ago, and I'm not in the slightest opposed to getting out the screwdriver if necessary. Luckily I've got a c330f with 135mm as my backup, but I'd really like to get my 6 functioning again, even if the lens is stuck in the extended position. Thanks...benjamin
philip_partridge2
Benjamin, try the MAC forum (login url): http://www.macuserforums.com/webx?15@42.UIQdartYdgu^2@14@.ee70770, or alternatively, (my suggestion) is their tech assistance: mailto:info@mamiya.comFore extreme field use, if you get it fixed, leave the lens out, despite the extra bulk. In my experience, the tech guys at MAC have been prompt and helpful, so good luck with them. BTW, it is common for owners to refer to this camera as an M6. chris_patti1
Had the same problem (in Nepal, interestingly enough). As I recall, the silver lens release button won't work when the lens mount is not engaged (ie, locked), so you may have only one problem rather than two. I was able to get it working again by fiddling around, but as I recall, I had to pull out the film and clean it out from the back. I don't have a more specific suggestion than that. The problem did not recur, so I believe it was caused by dirt or grit.
