My First Photobooth

<p>I finally did my first "photobooth" set up at a wedding last night. It was SO much fun! I'm looking forward to selling the idea to more brides.<br>

I had a 8 foot white background on stands. For lighting I used a 60" umbrella with an Alien Bee 800. It was up quite high and shadows mostly fell behind.<br>

<p>Oh fun! A couple of weddings I have been a guest at had something like this and everyone always raved about it :)</p>

<p>Linda, great shots. Mind telling us a bit more about the setup? For triggering, did you just use a cable release with a "push here" button, or did you have an assistant operate the equipment? Anything else you don't mind revealing about how it worked or what to look out for?</p>

<p>Thanks! It was a lot of fun. I wish that I'd taken a shot of the whole setup. Not that it was fancy or difficult. It was actually quite easy to do.<br />I had an 2nd shooter with me for this wedding, but I started taking the shots first because it was my first time and it was fun interacting with the guests! I used pocket wizards to fire the Alien Bee 800. I had the light I'll guess about 10-15 feet back from the backdrop and pretty much centered. It was up maybe 7-8 feet high with a 60" umbrella.<br />I've shot tethered before (for a school shoot), but didn't do any of that this time. In the future I may try doing that and possibly offering prints onsite. We'll see how it progresses. I didn't even hand out cards to an online gallery for it... which would be smart to do in the future. This time the B&G will just get all the pics on disk. Currently on my pricelist the cost is $175/hr (min 2 hrs) if they have already paid for a 2nd to be at the wedding. The cost is higher if I have to bring someone in specifically to help me with this. This is what I decided to charge before I had actually done one. Now that I've done one I may change things around.</p>

<p>I love photobooths! They are so much fun, we just started doing one too, and couples LOVE the photos from them. We have it set up to print 4x6 print outs of the pictures so guests can take a copy with them, its just a basic photo printer, but its worth it to watch everyone run around and show their pictures to the rest of the guests. :) We also lay out some of our cards next to the printer on a table. I hope youkeep doing this, its a great way to get to know people. </p>

<p>I love the one where the girl has a plunger on the guys butt, what made you think of a plunger for a prop? lol </p>

<p>I'm guessing the props were supplied by the DJ. Plunger looks to be getting some interesting handling in image #6..............</p>

<p>Actually I brought the props. Spent $30 at the dollar store. LOL Everyone did really like the plunger. It got some very interesting use and I didn't feel I could post some of them!! LOL I grabbed the plunger in the store because it made me think of the Ravin Rabbids game for Wii.<br>
