picturesque
Time to upload one recent image for show and possible critique. Make sure it is 700 pixels or less in width - AND - make sure to enter a caption in the caption box on that page where you've uploaded. Some details about the shot would be helpful.

By posting - you agree to allow your image to be chosen for discussion and critique for the week. One will be chosen at random. This is not a contest - but simply an image that we'll discuss. Positive as well as constructive suggestions are what will occur. HOWEVER - IF you wish to post your image but DO NOT WANT to be considered for critique - please say so in your caption. Images that show as a link will be deleted and you'll be asked to re-post.

Newcomers and Pros are both welcome to post in this thread. The thread will be closed late on Tuesday. Look for the choice on Wednesday. Please do not start the critique in this thread ;-)

simon_crofts
It looks like Bratislava, the bridge is instantly recognisable...

I like the ultra contrast feel and the flying saucer feeling of the bridge/tower, but not sure it entirely works in this image - the shape of the couple is somehow not quite right and his shirt being the only non-silhouette bit somehow is just a bit mucky and doesn't quite work for me. I also find the brutal vignetting a bit disturbing. But I think the overall idea was a good one, the execution just not quite subtle enough. The noses overlapping slightly disturbs me, like they're stuck together, better if they were just touching the ends, or probably even better, slightly apart.
simon_crofts
p.s. the faces are just too black, especially contrasting with the detail in the shirt. A hint of dimension/detail in the face would work better.

I'm leaving your input but wait for the selection to be made before commenting.

pbalko
The bride and her mom were the hit of the day for me. I got laughs, tears and a couple of real nice OMG! moments. Sure, the vignette is cliche, but it blurs the highlights, obscures a couple of almost distracting elements, and the clients love it. Canon 7D, EF 85/1.8, 1/60 @ 2.8, ISO 800, a little fill flash, I think from the 430EX, maybe the 580.
