feng_lin
I will be visiting the Upper Peninsula on Oct. 12 - 14 to shoot the fall foliage as well as its landscapes/seascapes, and would like to hear advice from those who are familiar with this place. More specifically, how should I best schedule these three days, what are the best locations, and what is the best time for these locations? Thanks! gannet___
It's a big place. Where are you going to be? Traditionally, two of the most popular photo areas are around Munising, and the Keeweenaw peninsula. In general, the northwest portion is the most naturally photogenic. Like I said, it's a big place. Don't expect to be driving all over it in three days. Pick an area and stick to it. Good luck and have fun!

photomark
I have enjoyed and made photos I liked in both Pictured Rock National Lake Shore and Porcupine State Park. Lake of the Clouds in the porcupine mountains is a very frequently shot area in the Fall--so much so that maybe it's best avoided. The last time I was in Pictured Rock NLS in the fall it was like driving through a bowl of fruit loops. Because of its proximity to Lake Superior it can get quite cold in October so dress accordingly.
alex_lofquist
For less crowds than Keeweenaw Peninsula, try Point Abbaye, Northeast of L'Anse. It is reached by moderately good roads (except for the last few miles) and worth the trip. Alex
qtluong
I'd second Mark's recomendations of Pictured Rocks and Lake of theClouds. There is beautiful fall foliage in many places on the UP,but most of it is quite flat. The two mentioned locations have more interesting landscape possibilities. patrick_smeaton
I really like the Tahquamenon Falls area and was there this last weekend. From what I saw, the 12th through the 14th would be perfect. Be prepared for rain (anywhere in the UP) Good luck
lindaspriggs
The prettiest hike I've ever been on was at Cut River Bridge. THe bridge is about 150 feet above cut river which flows into Lake Michigan. Once you're done with that, go down and follow the hiking trail and it's just breathtaking. Not far from this is Tahquamenon Falls which is gorgeous and has lower and upper falls.
