Check out www.cinema5d.com and vimeo.com, a lot of info there about lenses.

 

Yes, they do favor Zeiss, but some other lenses as well. And, search the auction sites, there are a lot of adapters available, and many do use Nikon lenses on the 5D II. That said, I have not used a Zeiss lens and do not have a direct opinion on it.

<p>Not really going to matter for video. 1080p is about 3 megapixels so sharpness is hardly your concern. You should be more concerned with focus breathing and ergonomics. That being said, using Nikon/Zeiss/just about anything else on a Canon is usually the matter of buying a cheap adapter. </p>

<p>Zeiss lenses are used a lot for video work and majority of professionals prefer them over Canon glass. They are as close as you can get to cine lenses. And they work much better with all types of rigs and follow focus systems. If you already own Zeiss ZF lenses then simply get an adapter. If not then I'd suggest using ZE line designed specifically for Canon EF.</p>
