chris_greenberg
Morning everyone,
I hope the weekend has taken it easy on you all. I need to pick up a battery for my M6TTL here in Toronto and I don't have the slightest idea where to go.
Does anyone on the forum have a source?
Any information is most appreciated, thank you very much!
Best,
Chris
jean_yves_mead
It takes two SR44 or one CR1/3N, n'est pas? I'd have thought you'd be hard pressed to find a camera shop, electronics store, or supermarket, that didn't stock what you need.
notraces
Go with the CR 1/3N - more consistent - and longer lasting --- you can get them at Downtown Camera -- or Henry's - no problem...
chris_greenberg
This is my first Leica and I didn't know that I could buy such batteries in a supermarket. Do the M8 and M9 take similar batteries?
I'd prefer to have a professional camera store help me with this. Is there such a place in Toronto?

User_4754088
I've gotten those CR1/3N batteries for my Leica M6 TTL at Radio Shack in the past. Not sure if they have Radio Shack stores in Toronto.

Best,
-Tim
chris_greenberg
Torben, what exactly is Leica PN? And why do you take exception to my question about the M8 and M9?
Chris
mukul_dube
http://www.vistek.ca should have all you need. It's best to look at cameras' manuals and jot down the type identifications of the power cells.
neilambrose
The M8/M9 take a large lithium ion battery similar to, but shaped differently from, the ones found in a DSLR. It's a bespoke battery available only from Leica. (Or Chinese imitations, if you're brave).

The M6/M7/MP take a small CR1/3N battery of the type found in common electronic devices, such as cameras and car remote controls. You can also use two LR44s - used together, they're the same size as a CR1/3N. Any of these can be found in drugstores, garages, electronic shops.... they're common to everywhere that sells domestic batteries.
