Best Portrait Lens thats affordable

Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF or Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM (&& will the Nikon AF on my d5000? from Left's response above looks like the Sigme will but not sure on the Nikon). </p>

<p>That Nikon won't. You will need the F/1.4 AF-S. About the same price as the Sigma, and a really good lens.</p>

<p>...So would you go with the Nikon or Sigma?</p>

<p>I own the Nikon, and while the reviews say the Sigma is also very good, the impression I got was the Nikon was slightly better. It is a stunning lens on my D5000.</p>

<p>I don't know about your side, but by me the Nikon is cheaper, smaller and lighter, and it's Nikon. And for most of us, you are not really going to see much difference in the quality from what I can see.<br>
