alcyon
Hi,
Recently, my D300 has been acting up. The auto-focus no longer beeps and I've lost the focus red squares in the viewfinder when I use the 51 points.
I have checked my settings in the menu and everything seems to be in order.
Has anyone else encountered these issues with a D300?
Thank you in advance.
Matt Laur
Have you perhaps switched the camera into [C]ontinuous AF mode, instead of ingle servo mode? Check the small lever switch on the front of the body, near the lens mount.
ShunCheung
I would double check the AF mode selector (the S/C/M switch below the lens release button in front) and the AF area mode selector switch (below the multi-selection pad on the back). You may have some wrong settings. At least I would rule those out first.

brian_hooks
I have somehow changed settings on my D90 so that it no longer beeps when the focus locks on. Beep set to on AF area set to Auto-area, center focus point set to Normal zone. Any advice on this would be appreciated.
Brian
ShunCheung
Brian, I don't have a D90, but on most higher-end Nikon DSLRs such as the D2X, D200, D300, and D3 family, I would check Custom Settings a1 and a1: AF-S and AF-C priority being focus or release priority. However, the D90's AF settings are somewhat different.
