john_latta
I am new to the world of 4x5. I use transparency film. When the film is processed by my local lab it comes back with a mark near the edge of each corner where clips were attached during the processing. Is this normal or are there other types of processing? How is this viewed when 4x5 work is submitted professionally? Thanks.
light-zone
Absolutly normal. An AD who has seen LF transparencies before will not even notice the marks.
jeffrey_scott
Those marks are from the clips used with a dip and dunk processor, they are normal but make sure your lab doesn't get sloppy. I've had scratches from these clips that went significantly into the image. To minimize this leave sufficient space around the edges, do not compose all the way out to the edges of the groundglass. hyperfocal
No clip marks on a Jobo. Some digital workers may even clone out clip marks for you. What gets aggravating is when the clip marks encroach on the image area. H
david_goldfarb
Completely normal for a dip-and-dunk line.
tim_atherton2
and stylish "art" photographers will leave the clip marks in on the print... :-)
