Happy Wednesday, NikonPNs. Here's hoping you're not here on the east coast of the US, sweltering in over-100-degrees-F weather. The weather's not fit for man nor beast. Have you and your Nikon gear been someplace hot, or someplace cool? Let's see a photo.

00Wofa-257673584.jpg.627bc0cd2fe43cf8fdb2b00e30acfe67.jpg

Happy WedNEsDAy everyone!
My shot today comes from a panoramic that I stitched together. The photos that comprise this panorama were shot in Hawaii. The view is of a taro field, just after a thunderstorm and about an hour before sunset. It's near the North Shore where we saw lots of big waves and some fearless surfers.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Dear Nikon Friends. It seems that I am seeing more raptors in an urban environment. My image this week is of a hawk I found sitting on a patio at the local high school. Was able to get within a couple of feet before he flew off.

00Wofg-257673884.jpg.fa0c1ebf8984d37da46313ee2f623e25.jpg

From the Puppy Chronicles: Coming Thru!!!!

I don't usually like much motion blur, but this shot pretty much shows the dynamics of a puppy 'train wreck.'

PLEASE NOTE: No puppies were injured during the filming(?) of this puppy train wreck<G>

WedNEsDAy PiC #27

Whenever I come across these two birds I feel compelled to try and take "a better shot". This is my latest effort shot two days ago. My camera and I are struggling to see “the same thing” but this shot is getting closer to “where I want it to be”.

Camera: Nikon D300
Lens: AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-200 mm f/2.8G IF-ED
Settings: 90 mm, 1/15 sec, f/8 and ISO 200 (AP, hand held, 0.33 EV, VR on)

00Wofo-257675684.thumb.jpg.7afbdc682d8769c67f2542558eb1b8a6.jpg

Hello again everyone. Happy Wednesday to all.

I've been doing some walking around downtown and trying to get some decent shots in amongst the tall buildings. For the most part I've been rather unsuccessful. I'm thinking that late in the evening is not such a good time for this type of shooting. It's hard to overcome the dynamic range of an APS sensor camera. Here's one of the few shots that I've liked so far.

00Wofx-257681584.jpg.229f7cb17d88bb9d6ad51b15a9e77570.jpg

Great photos, everyone! It's cool here, on the Central Coast of California. (I will be punished in two weeks by a business trip to Washington, D.C.) It was a pretty cool morning here, when I took my golden retriever, T-Bone, to Asilomar Beach; I wanted to photograph him playing. The only difficult thing was to throw the tennis ball with my left hand, while holding and aiming the D90 with the Nikkor 70-200 mm with my right hand -- and I am not strong. Here is the result.

00Wog0-257681884.jpg.3605a3b449dc301a7bd87d39fd0e5b62.jpg

Every Canada day (July 1st) here on Vancouver Island the local lumber yard sponsors a boat building competition. Teams of three have three hours to build a boat using no more than $100 worth of materials and non-power tools. A 200m course tests the seaworthiness of the craft, many of which turn out to be submarines. Lots of fun to watch, belly laughs guaranteed.

00WogS-257689584.jpg.be103671c3e78702ea81d07654936fd0.jpg
