andrew_long1
Hi guys,
An update on the software front. I've created an open source application CoCa. It creates ICC color profiles for digital cameras and scanners. It can utilise a large number of different targets, including ColorChecker, ColorCheckerSG, HutchColor, LaserSoft, QPcard 201, IT8 and more. It is particularly useful if you purchased a target without the profile creating program. BTW - good quality targets are available from www.cmp-color.fr, www.danes-picta.com or www.targets.coloraid.de.
CoCa currently runs in English, French, Czech and Polish and is available fromhttp://www.nla.gov.au/preserve/dohm/coca.html
Andrew Stawowczyk Long

janne_moren
Interesting, thanks. How does this compare to or relate to gnome-color-manager? ( http://projects.gnome.org/gnome-color-manager/ )
Ed_Ingold
Software that doesn't use an hardware measuring device isn't worth considering. Software for X-Rite and others is usually free, but can't be used without one of their devices, and you must pay to have specific options enabled with that device.
joe_c5

Software that doesn't use an hardware measuring device isn't worth considering.

Might want to read the description again, no additional hardware is necessary to profile input devices, only a target.

I tried it quickly with a regular ColorChecker and it created a profile. Looks like this is based on ArgyllCMS, which I’ve used before.

In this case your scanner or camera is the hardware measuring device and the target is the known reference.
