D700 lens mount issue?

<p>I ran into an issue the other night where I would attach a lens (both the 24-70 and the 70-200 vr II, both digi only, so no aperture ring) and the body failed to read aperture.. Neither the shutter speed or aperture were being displayed on the top LCD screen (or view finder for that matter) and pretty much rendered the camera useless. I tried switching back on forth between the lenses, taking off and putting the lenses back on, but for a few minutes there nothing worked. After a few minutes everything was fine again. Has anyone ran into a similar issue? </p>

<p>Any error messages? Did simply remounting the lens cure it? Battery condition? Maybe a reset of the camera body is in order.<br>

<p>Recharge your battery and/or try aother fully charged battery.</p>

<p>Additionally, clean the electronic contacts around the mount, on the body as well as on the lenses. Make sure that the electronic connection is good.</p>

<p>Do you use any special cleaning element for electronic contacts?</p>

<p>Electronic contact cleaner. Rubbing alcohol would work too. Use it on a cloth. It evaps quickly and works well.</p>

<p>I would use DeOxIt contact cleaner. I will typically clean my contacts and hotshoe with it every few months. It is 10 bucks or so at any Radioshack or the like.</p>
