dave_f2
I am looking to disassemble a Leitz Tiltall I recently acquire from ebay. I found an exploded view diagram, but it is not detailed enough for me to read. I am trying to take apart the leg segments. I have unscrewed the leg locking mechanism, but I cannot remove the threaded washer that the locking ring attaches to. This is the diagram:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KH9N26b5O2c/SXocbfxAtNI/AAAAAAAABt8/HxIu2sPr8A8/s1600-h/Tiltall.png

The brass ring is what I am trying to remove:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KH9N26b5O2c/S5k7t05fDcI/AAAAAAAADhs/75W_PMqXBtU/s1600-h/Tiltall_Leg_Locks.jpg

bob_sunley
Are you referring to the threaded brass bushing that is attached to the black finished tube at the top of the picture? That maybe threaded into the tube or is a pressfit. No way to tell from the picture.
bob_sunley
Now if you are trying to take the legs apart, I'd guess the tube 042 is threaded onto the pivot block 038. You would unscrew the tube and then the other sections can be removed thru the top of the outer tube.
dave_f2
Yes, I am trying to take apart the leg and remove the brass bushing from the leg, as well as tube 42 from pivot block 38. Apparently there are different variations of the Tiltall that may or may have pressed or threaded parts. I'm looking for someone who actually has done this so I don't break my tripod trying to unscrew a pressed part. Anyone have any idea?
jim_jones3
Bob Sunley is right. The upper tube may be tightly screwed onto the pivot block, but should loosen without using tools. You have one of the classic photo accessories that should still be giving good service a generation or two into the future.
