Disassemble Leitz Tiltall?

I am looking to disassemble a Leitz Tiltall I recently acquire from ebay. I found an exploded view diagram, but it is not detailed enough for me to read. I am trying to take apart the leg segments. I have unscrewed the leg locking mechanism, but I cannot remove the threaded washer that the locking ring attaches to. This is the diagram:

The brass ring is what I am trying to remove:

Yes, I am trying to take apart the leg and remove the brass bushing from the leg, as well as tube 42 from pivot block 38. Apparently there are different variations of the Tiltall that may or may have pressed or threaded parts. I'm looking for someone who actually has done this so I don't break my tripod trying to unscrew a pressed part. Anyone have any idea?

Bob Sunley is right. The upper tube may be tightly screwed onto the pivot block, but should loosen without using tools. You have one of the classic photo accessories that should still be giving good service a generation or two into the future.
