35-70 f/2.8 rear aperture ring/barrel wobble?

I just bought this lens on ebay. The glass elements look great. However, the rear aperture ring/barrel seems to be loose. I can wobble it back and forth for ~1mm. As a result, on my D40 I can't focus the image unless I push the barrel tight against the camera body. Once it is focused the images are very sharp. Has anyone experienced this problem before? Is it due to loose screws on the back (I couldnt' see any screws that is obviously loose) or something more?
Thanks for the help!

Loose screws most likely.
You will need the smallest JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screwdriver. You can buy them online. DON"T use a philip head!! They will mess up the head and cause you much grief
In the lens I fixed, I unscrew the ring with the engraving and slid it up toward the top of the lens. The three screws holding the mount were underneath. I pushed everything tight and tightened the screws.
Hope this helps
