jukka1
Hi!
Do anyone know what is thickness of wratten glass filters?
I have Hasselblad compendium which takes 3*3 gelatin filters with filter holder?
Is it possible to use these wratten glass filters without that Hasselblad filter holder?
Sincerely, Jukka
erie_patsellis
Jukka, the glass filters are convenient, but loose all the optical benefits of using a gel filter. They're pretty thick, I don't think they'll fit in the compendium.
marc_batters
I don't think I have ever seen filter material/glass more than 1mm thick.
The plastic, or polyester-type gels/filters are even thinner.
As to using square filters, you are not limited to only using a holder from the maker of your camera.
There are other holders from companies like Lee, Cokin, Singh-Ray, and Calumet. along with several other third party options, for filters, filter holders compendium shades, and lens hoods.

http://www.cokin.fr/ico1-p1.html
http://www.leefiltersusa.com/camera/
erie_patsellis
3x3 glass wrattens are two pieces of filter glass, with a gelatin filter sandwiched between, most of the the ones I have are around 3 to 4mm thick.
Jukka, unless you can get them for free, I'd not bother myself.
joseph_wisniewski
If memory serves, the genuine Blad holder is set up for gels in cardboard or metal holders, less than 1mm thick, and it won't take any Acrylic or glass filters, because they're all too thick. But a Lee or Cokin holder will hold almost anything, except for some of the laminated filters that Erie mentioned.

I don't think I have ever seen filter material/glass more than 1mm thick.
The plastic, or polyester-type gels/filters are even thinner.

You won't see much filter material less than 1mm thick. Cokin filters typically run 1.6mm, Singh Ray 1.9mm, and my beautiful glass neodymium enhancer is 2.5mm and a bit of a pain in a Cokin P holder...
