Hi Fellow Nature Photographers,

I am about to leave for my photo trip and hence I have already bought

Lowepro Lens Trekker 600 for my Nikon 600/4 AF S lens. As per the

instruciton manual and some reviews the bag should be able to carry

the Lens with one body attached to the lens and another extra body at

upper compartment of the bag next to the lens+body. But I hardly can

fit even the lens with only one body (attached). I tried different

way but could not, the space doesn't seem to be big enough for one

extra body.

Could you please suggest me how to solve the problem? I have one

Nikon F5 and one Nikon F100.

Thanking all of you in advnce and wishing you a happy weekend.

The Lens Trekker 600AW is actually rated for "most" makes of 600mm f4 with one body attached. The shelf for a 2nd body is provided in case your particualar lens (300mm up to 600mm) allows enough room for it. In your case it doesn't. My best suggestion would be to attach an S&F Pouch 60AW to the side of your Lens Trekker to accomodate the extra body.

If it doesn't fit, there's not much you can do to make it fit. In a way,

this might be a blessing as it's pretty easy to picture the camera

body being damaged while mounted to such a big lens. Under

enough stress, something has to give. And I would predict the

first thing to go would be the integrity of the lens mount on the F5

body. It is possible to bend or misalign the mount on even such

a robust body as the F5.

Do not leave your camera body attached to the long lens in any pack. One good bump in the right spot will bend the lens mount ($100 repair) and/or pull the lens mounting flange out of the F5 body($850 repair) These were the repair costs for my F5 mounted on a 800mm F5.6 manual focus lens that I had dropped off my tripod. Either one of these possible problems could happen to your camera and lens while traveling with them mounted. They would also put you out of action unless you have a spare body and long lens along with you. Take a moment to mount your body when needed and save yourself from a major catastrophe.

Dear Fellow photographers,

I was in such a hurry I even could not mention my thanks for your suggestions.

Yes, the idea of not attaching the body with this big lens was very logical and hence I followed your suggestions.

By the way, I carefully remarked this time that the areas of the lens where we screw in the hood gets scratched and slightly paint worn because of the screw while tightening to fix the hood.

Is there any way to prevent this damage?

Thanking you all.
