rhwilson
Noticed a bright edge in all frames when using a 400L 5.6 lens. Tried a different lens - 17-40L - no bright edge. Back to the 400 and the bright edge shows up again. Any ideas what's causing it. It's a new feature - was not there last time I used the lens. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks.
1DsIII
400L 5.6

zml
Shutter bounce. You'll need to replace the shutter. Should be more visible, i.e. the overexposed strip should be wider, at really fast shutter speeds, such as 1/4000s.
joe_fikes
I think Michael's right. It's a shutter problem. I assert (without explanation, that would take too long and nobody would believe me anyway) that it makes sense that the problem would be much more pronounced with the 400mm than with the 17-40.
philip_wilson
As the others said - shutter. Try your 17-40 at say 1/8000 and you may see the same issue with that lens also.
