jb17kx
Hi all,
Call this a bit of a pointless question but I've just acquired a Nikkor-SW 120/8 and in the process of admiring it I've noticed that on the side of the shutter it says "Nikon S W 120 mm 1 : 8" and then there's a little S in a circle.
I was just wondering if anybody could tell me the significance of that marking?
Thanks.
keiske_sasaki
Circle S designates Copal 0 shutter specially made for Nikkor lenses. Ordinally Copal 0 shutter has 5 aperture blades but the above one has 7 blades for better Bokeh. Nikkon claim more aperture blades forms smoother circle for better Bokeh shape.
jb17kx
I'd never even thought of that. Thanks.
friedemann_pistorius
I own several lenses in modern Copal 0 shutters from different manufacturers (Schneider, Nikon, Fuji). All shutters have 7 aperture blades.
