The Olympus EP1 uses Motion JPEG inside an Windows AVI movie carrier. Motion JPEG is a very common compression format. Most Movie editor software (in-expensive or high cost) should be able to decode and handle it. The down side of motion JPEG is low compression.

If you are not into serious movie making and just do light duty video clip, check out Pro-show Gold. It allows you to generate a slide show (its main function) and also allow you to embed some video clip into it. Its really cool and not so expensive. If you need serious non-linear movie editing (ie: make your own short film), check Apple's Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premier. If you want lowest cost, just get the job done, Window's Movie Maker also could do it.

BTW: EP1 support 720p Hi-Def Video file. The best result, won't be with a DVD. You want to generate Hi-Def output for a BLU-RAY disk (H.264).
