120mm f5.6 Super Topcor MC

<p>Does anyone have any experience of this lens? I am considering adding one of these to use on a 6x9 technical camera. It comes mounted in a Seikosha shutter and on a lens board. Also did Topcon make this lens or is it simply a rebadged Nikkor or Fuji perhaps?</p>

<p>The Topcor medium format and large format lenses are definitely products of Toyko Kogaku (now Topcon). These lenses, and the Horseman camera, were really a joint business venture with Komamura, owners of the Horseman brand.</p>

<p>The lenses are indeed made by Topcor and are of good quality. These lenses were made for the Horseman 990/VH series of cameras. The Super designated lenses cover 4x5 inch so on 6x9 cm you will have ample room for movements.</p>

<p>I used the ER version of this lens for some time... the ER versions added multicoating. It is a very sharp, contrasty lens.</p>

<p>Well, I made the jump and the lens is on its way. I'm hoping to use this 120mm lens and a 65mm f8 Schneider Super Angulon as my lightweight kit together with a Horseman VH. Everything should fit nicely into a small backpack with room for lunch. Thanks for the responses.<br>

<p>You are going to need a recessed board for the 65mm... these are extremely difficult to come by.</p>

<p>Thanks for the warning Paul; I had entirely missed that aspect. I have used the 65mm on a flat board on a Baby Linhof Technika but only focused at shorter distances, never at infinity. This will bear a bit more checking out but I am sure you are right. I just got the tape measure out and it looks like infinity focus might be pushing it. That said if I can get focus at 20 feet, d.o.f. at f11 and smaller could take me the rest of the way in terms of acceptable sharpness. I never focus on infinity with a wide angle lens anyway. Failing all that it looks like (yet another) D.I.Y. project unless I get really lucky.</p>
