jens_peter_troelsen
Hi,

I've had success by standing where the I30 crosses the I35, to the south east of Dallas Downtown.

You can see one of my pictures on my flickr , where you also can view a map thats a bit more detailed than my description above :)
Have a nice trip!

Jens Peter
rogerdaltx
There is a local Texas Photographers forum with a Dallas Ft. Worth board. This question has been discuss there in some detail. Goto http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum/dallas-fort-worth/ and search the archives.

My suggestion would be West of the Trinity river. It gives you an open green space with Down town in the background. Search for the intersection of Sylan Ave and Canada Drive. There is a 1/2 mile stretch of levy there. No parking lots and not the very best of neighborhoods, you'll have to walk a bit. But it's probably the best view of down town. Lot's of folks shoot there. Over the Ft. Worth Ave bridge (West of Down Town) is a decent shot from a small park recently built to overlook one of the new bridges being constructed. You'll want a telephoto (100-200mm) for either location.

gordon_lukesh1
Many years ago I had dinner in a rotating restaurant on top of a building, the name of which I forget. The skyscrapers will skim by as you eat, but finding your way back from the restroom (which is stationary in the center) is a lot of fun after a couple beers!
