Can any Ballhead be used for Monopod?

Or Monopods need specific type of Ballheads? What are they?<br>

<p>ballheads are a waste of time on a monopod. check the Manfrotto 324 tilt-head.</p>

<p>As far as I know, any standard tripod head (1/4x20) will work on any standard tripod or monopod. But you will want to make sure the ballhead you want to use fits your own monopod's threads. </p>

<p>Ditto Howard. I experimented with several different ballheads on my monopod, but gave up. The combination was just too wobbly to control. The Manfrotto 234RC is much easier to work with, and comes with an RC-2 quick release plate.</p>

<p>You can also get the Manfrotto 234 without the quick release and put a Arca Swiss style clamp on it. It works quite well if you have AS style plates on your cameras. Really Right Stuff also makes a sturdier equivalent head for seriously more bucks.</p>

I recently purchased a Slik AF2100 ballhead for my aging but sturdy old tripod..... an amazing piece of equipment. It comes with a reversible screw thread section that will take either of the two most popular tripod thread sizes. Not to mention the quick release plate and the "squeeze trigger" mode of operation.<br>

<p>A ball head has too many degrees of freedom on a monopod - too much like pushing a rope. Get a swivel instead. I recommend one of those offered by RRS (<a href="http://www.reallyrightstuff.com">www.reallyrightstuff.com</a>).</p>
