carl_hu
I searched the forum but did not get the precise answer for this question. I'd like to use the P67 handheld with studio flash, 0 ambient light. The flash sync is 1/30th and I'm concerned of ghosting from the modelling lamp. The photogenic flash i'll be renting does turn off the modelling lamp but i don't think that's an instantaneous thing...do you guys have a problem with this? thanks, carl
alex_b.
My Balcars have 250W modeling lamps and they don't register with the Pentax's 1/30 sync speed (they don't turn off either). Some still life photographers told me modeling lamps register from 1/15 and slower.
jim_sabo
The answer depends on the brightness of the modelling lamps and the film speed being used. If, at 1/30th, the modelling lights meter 3 stops under your shooting aperture, you don't have much to worry about. If they're only one stop under, ghosting can be a problem. How much of a problem depends on the movement of the model and how steady you are. Ways around the problem are to shoot a slower film, which requires more output from the flash, or go to lower wattage modelling lights.
joel_collins
Carl, Hope this isn't too late, but I use the P67 in the studio hand-held with no problems. My lighting is Speedotron Brown Line 1204. I leave the modeling lights on and never have ghosting.
