j_c13
Hi, Does anyone know of a US supplier for Shen Hao 8x10 camera? Badger Graphic won't be importing them at this time it looks like. Thanks, JC

eugene_singer
JC, I've asked Jeff, at Badgergraphic, the same question. Also Jim, at Midwest Photo. Both believe that the demand for new 8X10 wooden field cameras is very limited. They would probably need to order a large quantity to obtain the lowest price from the distributor, in order to make a reasonable profit. That means that a lot of un-sold ones would be gathering dust on their storeroom shelves. Midwest handles the 8X10 Tachihara cameras, both double and triple extension models. However, it seems that most people would rather buy an old Dorf.
ralph_barker
Has anyone mentioned U.S. prices for the 8x10 Shen Hao? If the price differential between it and competing 8x10s is similar to the difference on 4x5s, I would think an 8x10 Shen Hao would be a winner, and just the nudge that some people (like myself) need to get into 8x10. At $2K, the Tachihara is tempting, but not compelling.
eugene_singer
Ralph, Midwest Photo Exchange is selling new Tachihara 8X10 double extension models for under $1300. MPEX.COM Call, and talk to Jim. He may be able to find a nice used one. He will be traveling to Japan on a buying trip in the next few weeks.
dave_e._schneider
Have you tried Photo Gizzmo in New York city? Here's the site: www.photogizzmo.com. Ask for Louis. I believe the price for 8x10 camera (HZX810-IIa) is about $1500. David
