steven_sherwin
I have just bought an external hard drive to provide back up for film images I had scanned onto CD's. Knowing very little about this, I was just wondering what I need to do to transfer the images onto the external drive. Are there any websites I can get this information from?
Thanks very much for any advice
tar heel
Using an external hard drive is no different than using an internal HD. It will show on your directory tree in Windows Explorer and you just move your files into a directory on the new HD and that's it. There's no magic to it.
Ed_Ingold
You will also see files on the CD as though they are on an hard drive. To copy them, click and drag or copy (CTL-c) and paste (CTL-v).

More important, how will you organize them on the new drive. Chances are there are a lot of duplicated file names. I suggest you create directories with a date code and subject corresponding to each CD and copy the images to that directory. If the CD has a unique title, you could use that too, which maintains correspondence between the original CD and the new directory.
