saving CD images onto external hard drive

<p>I have just bought an external hard drive to provide back up for film images I had scanned onto CD's. Knowing very little about this, I was just wondering what I need to do to transfer the images onto the external drive. Are there any websites I can get this information from?<br>

<p>Using an external hard drive is no different than using an internal HD. It will show on your directory tree in Windows Explorer and you just move your files into a directory on the new HD and that's it. There's no magic to it.</p>

<p>You will also see files on the CD as though they are on an hard drive. To copy them, click and drag or copy (CTL-c) and paste (CTL-v).</p>

<p>More important, how will you organize them on the new drive. Chances are there are a lot of duplicated file names. I suggest you create directories with a date code and subject corresponding to each CD and copy the images to that directory. If the CD has a unique title, you could use that too, which maintains correspondence between the original CD and the new directory.</p>
