luis_g
I had moved on to other Nikons by the time my D1x OEM batteries died. I still like to use it now and then, mostly out of nostalgia, so I looked for new batteries, and I bought them from here:

http://www.notebook-batteries.net/digital-camera-battery/nikon/DNK004.htm

I know they're cheap, which is why I bought three of them about 2.5 years ago, and they seem to work as well as the OEMs did. Zero problems to date. I use one of two OEM MH-16 chargers, and they charge up perfectly.

Hope this helps.

sammy_d1
I bought 2 of the "MaximalPower" 2700mAh EN4 batteries off eBay for under $50. They work much better than the OEMs - I get regularly get ~400 shots per battery (much less if it's very cold out). If you get these, SAVE the latching units off your old batteries. They come right off with 3 screws. The 3rd party batteries do not provide the same quality latch that Nikon does.
luis_g
The latches on the cheapies I bought seem as good as the Nikons, have worked perfectly, aren't loose or anything. I get ~ 300 shots per battery.

BTW, have you tried the refresh thing with your old batteries?

mark_jordan3
I've had no issues buying replacements online from "Battery Barn"...around $35 each with a 1 year warranty.
