FD 85/1.2 SSC Aspherical

<p>Does anybody know what the current market value of FD 85/1.2 SSC Aspherical in near mint condition would be? My usual value gauge (eBay) is unhelpful because, unlike its younger sibling, the FDn 85/1.2 L, the lens comes up for sale very infrequently.</p>

<p>I watch the prices on the 85 Ls and asphericals, because I toy with the idea of getting one from time to time. I believe the SSC asphericals sell in the same ballpark as the L lenses, but you're correct, they probably show up on the squalid auction site every few months, and I suspect KEH only gets a couple a year.</p>

<p>If your lens is truly mint, it may command a premium over the L version, since it will be attractive to collectors. Many 85 SSC asphericals appear a bit battered, which is not surprising, because they're older.</p>

<p>The ASPHERICALs are usually selling for a premium. Build quality was better in the breech lock era if you ask me.</p>

<p>For whatever it's worth, KEH currently has an SSC Asph. in bargain condition at $599--the same price they have for a bargain FDn L version. For the latter, they have an Ex+ one at $789, reduced from $819, so you would think that a near mint SSC Asph. should be worth at least that.</p>

<p>Does anyone have any comparison experience with the SSC Asph. vs. the FDn L? I assume we're talking slightly varying degrees of awesome.</p>
