alcyon
Hi,
I apologize in advance in this question has appeared before in another forum.
I have an iMac calibrated with Eye-One Diagnostics and I would like to know how to calibrate my newly purchased printer (HP8550) in order to get prints that match perfectly what I have on my screen. Oddly enough sometimes the results are very close, other times they're way off (primarily with monochromatic color images where there is a strong value shift).
Thanks.
howard_m
you're not going to get a 'perfect' match. you can get very close though. are you using printer profiles (either custom or stock) ? what computer application is doing 'color management' ?
patricklavoie
you cant calibrate your printer, you can use a ICC profile to get good result, a profile made for your printer / ink / paper combo.

As for the black and white images, many printer cant print nice neutral bw..that just could be it. Nothing you can really do about that.
danny_low
What you need is a custom profile for your printer. You can buy a calibration system such as ColorMunki which will do both monitors and printers. Or you can contact

http://www.cathysprofiles.com/

which does custom profiles for printers at a reason price.

Danny
