sonny_chastant
Hello! I am thinking about augmenting my R system with a longer zoom, 80-200 or about. I know the F4 model, the new model is probably the best but I just cannot justify the $1K+ price tag at this time. Can you'll give me some recommedations on some of the older zooms....I see some selling in the $3-400.00 range. I don't want to compromise too much, BUT! Thanks, Sonny in Louisiana
l_dasousa
The 70-210 f/4 (last model previous to the latest 80-200 f/4) was an outstanding Minolta lens retrofitted in a quality Leica mount. Also the maker Angenieux made a 70-200 (or nearly) in Leica R mount which was very good but it is hard to find.
charlie_chan2
Doug Herr has his 80-200/4 (latest ROM, but retrofitted to 3 cam) at USD600 - bargain! The 80-200/4 is Leica's R bargain lens - almost the performance of the legendary 70-180 APO at a fraction of the price.

Charlie
