mcmanamey
Illustrator - but then, my hubby and his brother are both trained in graphic design, & have worked in printing, etc. Therefore, Illustrator and it's commands are 2nd nature to them. They can work as fast in Illustrator as most people do using templates & other programs.
I use Photoshop for my album pages, because, while Illustrator is better w/ a little more functionality, the commands & tools are a little different, and I know photoshop commands, not Illustrator. I also don't deal w/ vector art yet.
I still recommend using Illustrator or Photoshop, and either create templates for yourself, or buy them, or find somebody who wants to earn a little $$ designing the templates for you.
jon rennie
InDesign. Illustrator and Photoshop are ok for single page design but not designed for books or multiple spreads.
hooman_b
I've been quite happy with YSI - bunch of premade template, or make your own. You can drag and drop into the templates, which is really nice. And you can edit a layout in PS through the software. Export features abound and you can set the templates and layouts to the dpi And sizes you need. I think there is a 50% off sale going on now as well.

john_deerfield
I'll bite.... Illustrator? I haven't used Illustrator in years but way back then Illustrator was for Vector graphics, Photoshop for Raster images and InDesign was the layout. So for Layout I suppose InDesign, although we only use Photoshop (and we have InDesign and Illustrator)

linda_baylis
A little late, but wanted to add another +1 for Photojunction. It is now a free download, they have recently released a new version, and they some good tutorials available. Just check out the website and you can download from there. I have a design background so use photoshop primarily for albums, but have evaluated many of the album design options for mac and think Photojunction is one of the best.
Also, if you wanted to go the InDesign route, there is a great free tutorial at:
https://www.kissweddingbooks.com/questions.html
Good luck!
