First Photos with K-x

Thanks for posting here. You "restricted" yourself to 2 of the sharpest lenses available? That must have been tough :-) The wine rack was at ISO 800? That looks very good. The dark regions are really clean and nice detail in the image. I'm so used to the K20/K10D's that seeing such a small top plate and the mode dial on the "wrong side" looks very odd.

Personally I think this camera is a winner and has been released at exactly the right time. Now if you could just get me the Camo version and a great deal on a FA*600mm.......

While we have you here, would you ever consent to a Q&A session on the forum? We have a good if not small group of shooters here that now their stuff. I think everyone is respectful and would ask reasonable questions, Everyone realizes you can't tell us everything. But I've seen similar sessions on PN where each person posts one question and once 3 questions are posted everyone waits for a response. The thread is time lomited to a week or so and once the times up a Mod closes the thread so you don't have to keep coming back. If someone posts a 4th question before you respond to the group of 3, it gets deleted by a mod or ignored.

Would you be up for something like that?

Looks like you got another fine entry level camera there Ned. Photos look great. I'm glad to see that you post here and get a chance to read some of our postings. I've learned plenty from Pentax photographers here and their passion for the brand. I've had my K10D for a few years now and I'd like to continue with the brand, so I've got my eye on the K7.

Thanks for the preview Ned. I particularly like the picture of the colorful art glass and how its texture was captured.

It is also thoughtful (and unheralded in typical Pentax fashion) to provide ACR/Lightroom functionality ahead of the camera's formal release. That provides quick value to shooters. It really should be standard practice for the industry.

Thank you! :)
In this tread http://www.photo.net/pentax-camera-forum/00UjJ5 I wrote:
"I hope Pentax put this new sensor in an other version of the K-7. It would be fine if the customer could choose 12 Mp and great high-ISO performance or more MP and great low-ISO performance in the K-7 consept. I'll never buy a K-x, but I'd buy a K-7 with this new sensor.
Are there other Pentax users that think the same way as I do?"

Peter,
Thanks. LOL, it wasn't that tough a decision to use the FA 100 macro and the FA 77mm. I was trying to say that the way these lenses render images is quite well known, so one could eliminate any potential negative impact from the lens to these first test images.
I'm certainly not opposed to participating in a Q&A session here. My only concern is being able to reply to the questions in a timely manner.

Ned, I was kidding of course. Testing a new camera with glass that good certainly would show where issues might be, if any. If you have the time, I'd like to connect with you via email on the idea above. I understand that you are busy and will keep any email short. Justin (one of the 2 Pentax PN moderators) has agreed to oversee the thread if it's possible to arrange.

Ned, thanks for posting the link here. I was the guy who comment your post on #1 comment. I have your blog in my Pentaxian blog roll so that I don't miss a heart beat of Pentax news. It is in the right sidebar top. And I have my dilemma on choosing K-x and K-7. I pretty much want to have both and now the question to you and my Pentax buddies is which I should buy first

http://www.techtheman.com/2009/10/pentax-k-x-or-k-7-what-to-do.html

I know what you are going to answer -- buy both at the same time. Right! I don't like that as the answer. My dilemma has an irony only you and your colleagues can answer in the secret conference room where you all nice folks, read Canikon bad boys, can lol on my dilemma. Well done! And last but not least, please ignore the comment on Pale Color as not all of us are the unique kind who have nothing better to do than whining. And I overjoy for a moment or two in surpassing the oddballs in the Pentax community by a margin in Alexa and mozRank web traffic ranking.

Warmest,

Hin (You don't want to get my email as I swear all the time though the fuss with Yoda Mod 102 training and lol645D add-on)
