k_michael
How do I use my light meter if my light meter does not have a 400 shutter speed setting. Is going from 1/250 to 1/400 considered 2/3 of a stop?
jeff_lorriman
I've been told that 500th sec. in other cameras is closer the 400th anyway. My Sekonic 508 has a mode for 400th. I'd test it at a full stop from 250 (125th - 250th) and 2/3's (250th - 400th) and look at the chromes to see how much difference if any. The faster the shutter speed of a leaf shutter the less efficient it is. The effect is more pronounced at wider apertures. As I understand it. Any other comments or corrections? anthony_harrison
Kevin, the difference between 1/400 and 1/500 is so small that differences in metering technique are more significant. In any case, you'll be bracketing your exposures, won't you? Just think of it as a third of a stop, if you want to be precise.
miles_feigenbaum___dallas_
Howdy K! You didn't mention which light meter you use but here;s some info... On my Sekonic L-508 meter the 1/400th speed is not sequential on the dial. I don't have it with me at the moment, but if I recall, one has to scroll ALL the way through the speeds past the top speed on the meter and then it will have the 1/400th speed appear in the window. Yours might me the same... miles
