patrick j dempsey
Last year AOL shut down their Hometown web services and many great websites disappeared including the wonderful MINMAN site dedicated to Minolta manual focus cameras. It is bar none the single best reference for Minolta bodies and lenses. I've been pretty upset about it because it's nice to be able to quickly look up things there before buying. Well today I just discovered that MINMAN is back! It's been merged with The Sub Club site (another wonderful resource by the same author) and can be found here:

http://www.subclub.org/minman/index.htm

Update your bookmarks!
Andy Collins
He's been back for a little while; in all of my Minolta madness, I'm always looking for info on my cameras and discovered that he was back in business. All is right with the world now. At least as far as Minoltas are concerned.
maiku
OMG! I am in trouble. I came across a Rokkor 50mm f1.7 and a SRT1 for 20$ the other day. I passed, but after reading the website review I may have to go get it! Jeez! I did not need to know about this site!
Andy Collins
Oh, Michael...you think you like those Japanese rangefinders? Wait until you start diving deep into the Minolta SLR pool. Then you'll really be in trouble!
maiku
Minolta camera and lenses are dirt cheap here because the MC lenses are orphaned to Alpha mount nobody seems to care for them. The Alpha mount lenses are in high demand still because Sony now makes two full-frame dSlrs.

I am trying to stop collecting and concentrate on taking pictures, but I like playing with different camera brands.
patrick j dempsey
The early SR bodies, pre-SRT, really seem to be built like tanks. The only disappointment I've had with Minolta gear is the A2 Rangefinder... a beautiful work of art for a camera that from what I've read has a commonly defective shutter.
john carter
What the heck is that thing on the side of the XKs lens?
patrick j dempsey
John - If I recall correctly, it's a fast zoom mechanism. I think the large ring is for focus and the lever does the zoom. Much faster than traditional layouts.
