richard___7
Which menu settings give you the best skin-tone results, especially with speedlights (I'm using SB600)?

Thanks,

Richard
narayan
Richard, you can try the Mode I preset for portraits. Alternatively Mode II with low contrast/sharpening, moderate/normal saturation with some PP. If you use Capture, you can also try the downloadable picture controls - D2x Mode I or II and portrait.
1815photography
Try setting the white balance for flash. Do some test shots on yourself first. Personally, with my D200, I shoot RAW with the white balance set to automatic and adjust any problems with skin tone after the fact. The only time I don't do that is when I have an environment with multiple light sources that are really strong, i.e. some daylight, incandescent, fluorescent and flash ALL together. In cases like that I do test shots and set the white balance to manual to get the tones right, still shooting RAW of course.
Ray House
You can also set the white balance to "Flash" for a warmer more natural look. I think the best setting to use is RAW/NEF and you take control of the results instead of using JPEG and letting the camera decide.
