tdigi
Get the one that suits your camera. If you have a 50D get something in the 17-XXX range if standard zoom is your goal. I really cannot figure out why Canon continues to trick people into a 28-135 "kit' lens on APS-C body.
rj russell
17-55 f2.8 IS.... Amazing fantasticness! I have been using this lens for about one year and wouldnever part with it. By far the best all around lens for a crop body and the only solution for you. Cheers.
rsriram
If I were to spend close to a thousand dollars on a lens, it better have L quality build. The 17-55's optics are nice but the build quality is definitely not in the L league. I'd really hesitate to spend that kind of money on it, even if I could afford it.
matthijs
9 times out of 10 the EF-s 17-55 is better.

The 10th is for those that need a closer MFD, greater MM and rate handling higher than sharpness.
louis_chiew
do anyone think that canon will make a 17-70 or 17-85 mm L lens. since there no l zoom lens lately. this would be great len for crop body like 7d and not too bad for wide angle shooter with 5ds. anyone think this would be a great hit?
