joe_burns1
I created a new catalog on my desktop and put it on a portable HD so I could later open and use on my laptop. When I go to open on the laptop I get the following message: "Lightroom cannot open the catalog because it is not writable and cannot be opened" Then is says something about incorrect permissions or another LR application using the program. Any suggestions?? Joe
mark_sirota1
Either you don't have the permissions to write the file or the folder that contains it, or there's a .lock file. If the .lock file exists, make absolutely sure no instance of Lightroom is running, then just delete the .lock file.

tomadakis
This may be a silly suggestion but... rightclick on the catalog file and make sure the box Read-only is not checked.
