editheworld_co
I was just curious if In Capture NX2, would I be able to zoom in on a portion of my picture ( so that the portion is now taking over as the whole picture) and crop that portion of the picture? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Matt Laur
Yes, NX2 has a good crop tool that will allow you to either choose from standard aspect rations and orientations (say, 8x10 portrait, or 5x7 landscape, etc), or you can use a free-hand crop mode. Works fine. And if you are opening up NEF files, it's non-destructive and you can always revert to the original image as it was before you cropped.

Just remember: when you crop away part of the image, you're losing some of the data. If you have a fairly good image to start with, you can crop quite aggressively and still make nice looking prints... though that gets harder when you try to make quite large prints from very small part of the orginal image.
stwrtertbsratbs5
Crops in NX 2 are reversible if you work in the NEF format. It's a great feature because you can change your mind later. Or you can store multiple versions of an image within a single file.
gary payne
Yes, in NX2 you can zoom in on an image, then select the crop tool and crop the image as you have zoomed. Only restriction would be the aspect ratio. If you are trying to exactly match the zoomed image, choosing the "custom" crop ration would allow you to trace the outline of the zoomed image.
