stephen_fassman
Which card for D90:Speed: Extreme2, 3, or 4? Size: 8 or 16 Gig
Which card for D700: E3 or E4?, 8 or 16 G?

I presume the E4 is overkill for the D90 engine. But E2 vs E3: will movie mode tax the card more than Raw+ jpg at CH?Will the E3 thus be necessary to keep up with the camera?
Will the E3 be sufficient for the D700 when shooting Raw + jpg Med/Fine @ CH? I'm not interested in the UDMA dnld spec to the computer, to warrant double the price.
Both will be off-loaded to an iPod well before they are filled.Thanks.

nico_.
E3 with 8 or 16 gig is fast enough for my D700 in 14bit RAW, but I don't need long bursts in rapid succession as I don't spray and pray. E4 would give faster download speeds, but even then I'm not in a hurry.
gogu
Hi!
I use Extreme III 4 GB and 8 GB but the fast version, 30 Mb/s and I have no problem even when I shoot at max fps, RAW+Fine JPG with my D90.
For more info on this card please have a look here:
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/941/3/

rgrds
michaelleggero
i use the e3 card on my d700 and i have no issues even when i am using the mb-d10 battery pack...i shoot only raw and i can get about 15 exposures at the continous high setting before it has a problem storing in the buffer.
would an e4 card give more exposures before the buffer is filled?

ShunCheung
First of all, the D700 uses CF cards while the D90 uses SD cards.

There are Sandisk Extreme III SD cards, but I have never seen any Extreme IV SD cards; have you? Extreme IV is only available in CF.

stephen_fassman
When at a sports event, to capture the essence of a play, I wouldn't shoot for more than 1-2 seconds@ Raw + jpg MF, with the D700+ 180/2.8 or 70-300 VR. Would I still need the E4?
Wouter Willemse
I use the both Extreme III and IV compact flash for a D300, and I generally do prefer the E4. Simply because they help clear the buffer way faster, so keep up higher continious shot rate. Not that I need it all that often, but I rather keep my options open.
So unless the price is a too big hurdle, I'd always go for a E4 card (and maybe 1 or 2 E3 as backups).
