dw1
Can anyone list the Nikon consumer or semi-pro film bodies that
have 1/3 stops (not just 1/3 stop compensation, I shoot manual).
Don't care about ttl meter, a/f, etc. Just need the 1/3 stops.

I'm taking my 'once-in-a-lifetime' to Yellowstone in a couple weeks.
Primary body will be my F5, Zeiss 35mm and last of my Kodachrome :)
I just want a 2nd body to shoot some Scala B&W positives without
having to invest in another F5 ... or the F100.

Thanks.
lilly_w
When shooting in manual mode the exposure of all Nikons can be adjusted in 'stepless' fashion via the apereture ring.

I'm unsure of your aversion to the F100 (size, weight?) but the cost isn't that much more than many of the older (smaller, lighter) bodies such as FE2, FM2n, etc. Or how about an F3 or F2 (pro bodies comparable in size/weight to F100)?
tgh
The N90s can be set in 1/3 shutter speed increments. That is, 1/500, 1/640, 1/800, 1/1000. As Lily mentioned, the aperture can be set steplessly in manual or Av mode.
pete_s.
N80/F80 has only half stops so that one is a no-go.
dw1
I don't have an aversion to the F100. Just looking for a lesser investment. I
prefer the body controlled thirds rather than finessing the aperture ring. The
N90S looks to be the ticket. Thank you.

kfoster70
Dave,

I think you crazy by not looking at the F100 a little more. I have both the N90s and an F100 and the F100 is far superior, not just in its features but in handling and durability. The N90s has a coating on it that comes off rather easily which makes it really ugly. Finding one that doesnt have this problem in the used market will be tough.

Just my 2 cents

K
dw1
Kevin, as I mentioned in my original posting, I'm using manual lenses,
slide film, landscape shots. Metering iwith a handheld. The F5 is even
overkill for this application. I'm Just looking for an inexpensive body
so I can shoot BW slides in compliment with the Kodachrome. I'll rarely
ever use it again and the whole buy-use-sell on ebay thing is a pain in
the rump.

photo5
Second the N70 recommendation. You can probably find good used bodies for $50 or so. I had one for a few years and liked it better than the N90s. It's quieter, a lot quieter, and has a good pop up flash.
bsutter
You can manually tweak the ISO on any body (that allows for manual ISO setting) for 1/3 stop changes. Not ideal, but it will work.
mfophotos
I shot Kodachrome using sunny-16 with an Exakta in the 1970s, and isn't 1/3 stop a bit overkill? I finished up 3 rolls earlier this month with my F3 and was quite happy with the results.
<a title="sunset from Presque Isle by mfophotos, on Flickr" href=" title="sunset from Presque Isle by mfophotos, on Flickr">
photo5
Mark, if you shoot the F3 set to 'A' on the shutter speed dial, the shutter speeds are stepless. This is how I shot my F3 most all of the time and I got superb results on slide film.
mfophotos
Dave, you are correct -- the F3 does have exp. comp. in 1/3 stop increments, too. For landscapes, the F3hp is a great 35mm SLR. It's my favorite manual camera, followed by the FA.
