joel_stolarski
Read the online Leicaflex manual and
then tried a web search, and still
unsure as to which 55 it uses.
It's the E55 for a 3 cam summicron 50mm f2 lens?
I'd like to get a yellow filter
since I'm getting good detail in the shadow
parts of my negatives (bw400cn) but no clouds or sky detail.
Never shot any black and white so alot of this
filter thing is new to me.
michael_a._shapiro
I'm not certain what your question is. Is it about exposure? Is it about colors of filters? Is it about size or series of filters?

Michael
timemmerechts
Hi Joel,

the E55 works fine on my Summicron 50, the indication E55 just refers to the filter diameter and screw type, not the specs of the filter itself.
If you want details in the clouds without changing anything to the rest of the neg, I would try a polaroid filter, plus it comes in handy with your color flm too at times. Yellow or orange filters work too, but they change the contrast in the whole picture, not just the clouds. If you can find one for a good price try the Leica or Zeiss filters, I have used B&W filters with good results too.

dhbebb
LIke a lot of Leica R lenses, 55 mm screw-in. The E stands for "Einschraubfilter" (screw-in filter), older Leica RFs may well need an A36, where the A stands for "Aufsteckfilter".
joel_stolarski
Thanks for the offer Jerry, but
I do have the lenshood.
I can live with a used filter, as long
as it's not beat up bad.
saw a couple on the auction site.
David, good info thanks.
Pretty hard to forget that word, einschraubfilter.
I feel like calling up a local camera store
just to ask them if they carry one.
frank uhlig
Of course every filter of 55 mm diameter is now E = Einschrsubfilter .... What else? Just check Hoya, B+W, Heliopan, ...
