eleanor_marriott
I have a Nikon D60 camera and I find that when I take a photo it takes 4 seconds for it to come up on the monitor. None of the specs for the Nikon D60 say how long it should take to appear but this seems to be excessively long compared to other cameras, including my Nikon D40. I have sent it to Nikon repair centre and they say that this is no different to their other Nikon D60s and have returned it. I would really appreciate it if anyone else with a Nikon D60 could verify if this is the correct time for the image to appear or if it appears on their screens any quicker. Thanks for your assistance.
bms
Eleanor,
my wife has a D60 - not sure where right now... but that seems long. I think it would depend on the memory card write speed, size of file (RAW, fine JPG?) and if there is noise reduction turned on etc. Once it is written on the card, it should appear...
Others can probably clear this up, I may look for the D60 tonight and see.

Ben
errol young
I noticed this on a friend's D60. My D70 and D300 does not take as long.
dcphotography
Turn off "Active D-Lighting"? That may help, if it's on right now.
albert_lee1
it would also depend if your computer's usb ports are usb 1.0 or 2.0
usb 2.0 is much faster... so you may want to test bringing up the photo on another person's computer
sometimes i just like to copy all of the pictures on the camera over and the browse through them on the computer's harddrive, much faster that way.
rey_rios
Try also turning off Noise Reduction. Active D-Lighting makes the whole process very slow. Also, what type of card do you have? This would make a great difference. Also, are you shooting raw or jpeg? All of these settings will slow or speed up your preview. But then again, something might be wrong with you camera.
robbie_robertson
Make sure your SD card has a transfer rate of 16 MB per second, otherwise you'll experience ldelays while a slower card writes. Four seconds does sound long.
trevans
It's the D-Lighting. I borrowed a D60 while my D40 was in the shop, and this was so annoying it was the first setting change I made. Turn it off. If you really want a D-Lightful (sorry) picture later, use ViewNX or adjust curves in any of several good graphics programs (Photoshop, GIMP, Paint.NET...).
joel_covey
I noticed a speed difference recently when I filled up my type III card and had to use a slower speed card out of another camera. If you are into sports and other burst mode photos type III cards are worth the extra money.
will_daniel1
I think Albert Lee had the right answer. I tried Active D lighting for a while on my new D60 and had the same experience. When I turned it off, it went back to normal speed.

Will
