Rollei 6001 TTL how?

Seeing how vague Rollei's official manual is on this, there has been

many useful info on the web regarding metz ttl operation with more

advanced Rollei models like 6008(i)/6003, however since on a 6001,

there is no builtin meter and no exposure compensation, how do I use

TTL for fill flash?? I understand one way of achieving this is to use

the knob on the SCA 356 adapter, but it only goes up to 400ISO so if

I want -1 flash compensation with a film faster than 400 im out of

luck? Or is it possible to use the partial output on metz flashes

(e.g. 40 MZ) so basically i use TTL normally but with a -1 stop in

power output set on the flash? however seeing the priniciples of TTL

flash, wouldnt reducing the power output of the flash simply prolong

the time it requires for the OTF sensor to receive enough light so at

the end 1:3 etc fill flash compensation still cannot be obtained?

If your primary concern is fill flash and the ability to choose different settings for a particular flash situation, the 40 MZ2 has a very reliable auto mode with 12 different autoexposures. Keep in mind that fill flash is used to light up the shadows and therefore designed not to overpower ambient. After choosing your camera aperture, lets say f11 then it's just a matter of dialing f8, f5.6 or f4 into the Metz. Even better for fill flash is manual mode. It is just a matter of experimenting with a flashmeter what the particular manual settings of the metz produces for certain camera to subject distances and keeping this in your head. Frankly the only time I find TTL flash useful is for macro situations.
